Our technical and artistic challenge was to take Sven Nyqvists original highquality 35 mm material of Daniel and Juliette in the old-town section of Lyon, France (which was standing in for Prague), complete with Soviet-era tanks and periodcostumed crowds, and integrate it with the decades-old documentary material, which was of highly variable quality, much of it many times duped, scratched or dirty, some of questionable origin, some in black and white, some in colour, some faded, some high-contrast

[Emphasis added.] Cigarette control experts used some variant of this three-pronged argument to reframe their strategy: 1) cigarettes are the only legal products that are deadly when used as intended by the manufacturer, 2) involuntary smoking is a unique concern, and 3) the deadliness of cigarettes is extreme (i.e., defective) and much greater than for other products [21]
